Ultrastructure of the Jaws of the Fossil and Recent Eunicida (polychaeta)

چکیده
The ultrastructure of the jaws of Ordovician, Silurian, Permian and Recent Eunicida (Polychaeta) have been studied by transmission and scanning f'lectron microscopy. Primary and secondary zones have been distinguished in the ultrastructure of the jaws. The primary zone is formed of the pharyngeal cuticle containing an orthogonal network of collagen fibrils, while the secondary zone, underlying the primary one, is developed of inner part of the pharyngeal cuticle devoid of a regular network of collagen fibrils. The two zones are pierced by microvilli. The jaws of placognath Eunicida are structured of the primary wne only. The Eunicida with highly organized jaw apparatus have a strongly developed secondary zone underlying the primary one. A preliminary correlation of evolutionary changes in the anatomy and ultrastructure of the jaws of Eunicida bas been conducted. It has also been shown that the ultrastructural studies of the scolecodonts were not very useful for taxonomic purposes.

Even though relationships within Annelida are poorly understood, Eunicida is one of only a few major annelid lineages well supported by morphology. The seven recognized eunicid families possess sclerotized jaws that include mandibles and a maxillary apparatus. The maxillary apparatuses vary in shape and number of elements, and three main types are recognized in extant taxa: ctenognath, labidogn...
متن کاملThe ultrastructure of calcareous cirratulid (Polychaeta, Annelida) tubes
The entire tube wall of Dodecaceria caulleryi and D. coralii is composed of thin calcareous lamellae with a spherulitic prismatic ultrastructure. In Diplochaetetes mexicanus the tube ultrastructure is similar, but contains also some lamellae with a homogeneous structure. The biomineralization system of cirratulids has not evolved since the appearance of calcareous tubes in the Oligocene. The tu...

—A new species of aphroditiform polychaete, Protopholoe colombiana, is described from the Coniacian of Colombia, South America, increasing the number of species of this genus known from the fossil record to two. This is the first occurrence of fossil soft-bodied polychaetes in the Tropical Americas, and indicates that aphroditiforms were spread worldwide during the Mesozoic.
متن کاملStellar Populations in the Central Galaxies of Fossil Groups
It is inferred from the symmetrical and luminous X-ray emission of fossil groups that they are mature, relaxed galaxy systems. Cosmological simulations and observations focusing on their dark halo and inter-galactic medium properties confirm their early formation. Recent photometric observations suggest that, unlike the majority of non-fossil brightest group galaxies (BGGs), the central early-t...

Chabahar Bay near Makran Sea, with the ports of transactions, has always been under the influence of annual monsoon the Indian Ocean. Density changes and heavy metals copper and zinc of Chabahar bay subtidal sediments were studied in 22 stations and three seasons that include: pre-monsoon, monsoon and post-monsoon during 2014. Polychaeta abundances mean were for premonsoon 1261.49±38.81, monso...
